Prestine and Detailed Sonics

I have never thought that one day id purchase cans at this price range but after reading so many reviews and blogs I had to pull the trigger , i already had my eyes on these for years , glad I purchased.
Referenced a couple mixes I was working on and was able to improve the overall feel and stereo image so well and with minor adjustments.
With these you can hear every increment of changes during a mix.
Thank you Grado family , as A Brooklyn native I am proud to own a pair of these lovely tings.

ANOTHER SUPERB GRADO PRODUCT

Beautifully designed and constructed of carefully.
chosen materials. Sound is precise without any trace
of accentuations throughout the stated audio spectrum. Linear, detailed rich sound. These are truly a musician's caliber headphones. Exotic, but realistically priced. You can't go wrong with the RS/1x.

My new standard of reference

There will be no going back for me. These headphones were suggested to me by a very trusted mentor of mine, and I'm so glad I got them. I've been mixing orchestral film music with them for the last couple of weeks, and couldn't be happier about the clarity and accuracy of what I hear. On top of the sound, and as if that weren't enough, they just straight look cooler than most other headphones. There is nothing lacking.

I also like supporting a family-run business, especially when they've clearly worked so hard to develop such unique and great-sounding headphones.

Why did I wait so long?

I have been a hi-fi enthusiast for better than 50 years. In that time, I have had countless headphones from most of the major brand names and I have to admit there are many that are quite good, even amazing. The RS-1X is my first Grado and I am very impressed by the sound that comes from such an elegantly simple design that is beautifully crafted.

Various amplifiers and sources have been used to drive these and what strikes me most about the RS-1X is how natural and just plain "right" it sounds. At the moment I am using a Schiit Bifrost 2/64 feeding a Lyr+ amplifier and I am very pleased!

On a side note, I feel that the comfort of the pads is much better than expected. I have the L's and the G's from Grado directly. The clones found elsewhere are simply not the same.

I can only imagine what the GS3000X must sound like. They are next on my wish list.

Bravo Grado!

RS1x - Made for Enjoying Music

Love them! They're beautiful, well - crafted with quality materials, and sound amazing. They have a little retro flare to which I am partial. I love that I can email the owners of the company and that the company comprises generations, relying heavily on the human element.

I run the RS1x from a mounted ipad through a chain of Schitt Modi 3 dac, Lokius eq, and Vali2+ amp. The tube for the Vali2+ has been replaced with an Electro Harmonix tube. Increasing, with the Lokius, the 20hz (helps the bass response nicely) and decreasing the 2Khz bands works nicely for me. (slightly fatiguing for me until I adjust the 2Khz down) I like the upgraded cable (I opted for the 1/4" terminal as I can always get an adaptor if I want to run balanced).

After watching hours and hours of reviews on headphones from the well - known "audiophiles", they seem to be part of an agreement to disparage Grado straight away, if they talk of them at all. If you look at curves/graphs and listen to reference recordings to pick a headphone apart on some hyper yet completely inapplicable level, you don't want these. (Z reviews is actually mostly fair to Grado, I must say) If you want your music to take you to a special place, you will love these. And they are beautiful to display.

I do share a small gripe regarding the pads. They aren't nearly as bad as the reviewers would have you believe, yet could use a more modern touch. No way would I let this keep me from buying these. I highly recommend!

Let’s dive into this open-back, over-ear headphone that, true to Grado fashion, stands out in the audio industry. Grado marches to its own beat, focusing on what it deems crucial rather than chasing trends. The RS1x is a testament to this philosophy—familiar yet different, evolving within Grado’s unique methods. The RS1x embraces “less headphone, more driver” by incorporating a mix of Maple, Hemp, and Cocobolo woods, resulting in a smaller yet rigid housing. Inside, the X Series driver, enhanced magnetic circuit, and reduced mass promise improved response time. The design, with its distinctive metal gimbal and sliding pin on a thin headband, retains Grado’s characteristic simplicity.
Despite its reduction in size and mass, the RS1x maintains a solid feel, deviating from the common sleek and metallic designs. Grado’s focus on two drivers in free space delivers a listening experience unlike any other at its price point. Tonally natural, it handles voices and instruments with unshowy believability. The larger driver brings effortless heft, invigoratingly rapid response, and an impressive three-dimensionality to the sound.
The RS1x’s sensitivity makes it compatible with a range of headphone amps, though careful volume adjustment is advised. Grado’s mastery of tempo and timing ensures an engaging, emotional, and cerebral experience. The RS1x retains the essence of Grado’s unique sound while becoming more user-friendly.

Signature Sound

Pulling everything we can from the new 50mm X Driver, our signature sound is brought to new heights when combined with maple, hemp, and cocobolo. Maple takes care of most of the work, hemp smooths out top and low ends, while cocobolo adds that extra punch. Together the sound the woods produce, when combined with our special processes, are full-bodied, dynamic, and truly defined.

X Series Drivers

The RS1x is the first headphone to be built with the larger 50mm X Drivers. Specifically tuned for the tri-wood RS1x, this new speaker design features a more powerful magnetic circuit, a voice coil with decreased effective mass, and a reconfigured diaphragm. Reengineering these components for our 50mm drivers improve efficiency, reduces distortion, and preserves the harmonic integrity of your music.

New Cable & Headbands

Along with the speakers, the cables and headband have been redesigned for the RS1x. Housed in a more durable exterior, the now super annealed copper 8-conductor cable reveals even more of your music with improved purity. The new black leather headband features a white-stitched accent.

Hand Assembled in Brooklyn

Founded on a kitchen table in 1953, and working with wood for over a quarter century, Grado Labs has been perfecting the art of sonic reproduction every day since. This RS1x has traveled from workbench to workbench until ready for your ears. Every experience since that kitchen table has led to the creation of the RS1x.
